Ermine Construction

This year is Ermine Construction’s tenth anniversary, and the Cambridgeshire-based business has had plenty more to celebrate recently with a growing number of awards under its belt. What’s more, further recognition could be on the cards after one of its team, Aaron Dalleywater, was nominated for Apprentice of the Year at the CN Specialists Award 2025.

“Aaron really is a rising star in the industry so we’re extremely pleased that he’s been put forward for this award,” explains Darren Peters, Managing Director. “He’s already become a real asset to the team, and we’re keen to help him develop his career to its full potential.

“My own background is in quantity surveying, having worked for a number of Tier 1 contractors over the years, such as Wilmot Dixon, Mowlem and Higgins. After reaching director level, I decided it was time to step out on my own, which was how Ermine Construction came about.”

Mixing all Darren’s prior experience with a laser-like focus on quality and service, Ermine quickly established a strong reputation within the marketplace, evolving from offering consultancy services into a fully fledged contractor in its own right. Its ethos has led to an impressive portfolio of projects, as well as a growing collection of substantial awards.

“Thanks to our developing reputation, we were able to secure a place on a couple of minor frameworks for Cambridge Council and things have snowballed since then,” adds Darren. “The team has grown as a result of the progression we’ve made in recent years and we’re now up to 18 employees.”

Throughout its journey along its upward growth curve, Ermine has ensured a focus on quality has been the main objective, an ethos that has not only see it continuing to win work, but has also secured a number of awards, such as being named Overall Winner at the Cambridgeshire SME Awards 2024 and UK Small House Builder of the Year at the Construction Awards of Excellence 2023.

“The awards are a great pat on the back for our team and an indicator that we’re on the right track but they’re not the main priority. The key is ensuring the client is happy and securing repeat business and future contracts. We strive to achieve this by continually reinvesting in the company and in our people. As we’ve demonstrated with Aaron, we want to support our people as much as we can to help them develop their careers by achieving all the various accreditations and qualifications they require.”

By investing in its people, Ermine is paving the way for future progression, enabling it to continue capitalising on the contract opportunities that are coming its way. What’s more, the approach is sure to continue attracting award recognition in the process.
